Fans can watch each stage of the prestigious global race on a gigantic 220” screen from Monday to Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the brand’s experience centre at Al Hudayriyat Island.

Colnago, the official bicycle supplier of the UAE Tour, has announced its flagship experience centre will be the host venue for Wolfi’s official UAE Tour Fan Zone as the Middle East’s only UCI WorldTour race begins today (Monday).

At Colnago Abu Dhabi in Al Hudayriyat Island, spectators and fans can watch the world’s best top male riders in all of the seven stages of the elite race including the all-important finish on the specially-built gigantic 220” screen between 1pm to 5pm from Monday until Sunday 26th February.

The bicycles produced by Colnago – the renowned Italian road bicycle manufacturer – are used by UAE Team Emirates, who will be one of the teams that will be competing in this year’s race. UAE Team Emirates will go into the race as one of the favourites after winning the last two editions.

Leading the charge will be 2020 winner Adam Yates, as the team bids to win the race for the third time. Also in action will be Australian rider and 2021 cycling esports world champion Jay Vine.

The annual UAE Tour is the most high-profile cycling event to take place in the country following its introduction to the UCI calendar in 2019. Aligning with the Government’s long-term strategy of adopting a healthy lifestyle and promoting fitness and wellbeing, the event has contributed to the rapid growth of cycling in recent years.

As well as sponsoring professional teams – the men’s UAE Team Emirates and women’s UAE Team ADQ, the country is home to some excellent facilities with many cycling tracks built across the UAE including at Al Hudayriyat Island, which has bespoke tracks designed for road and mountain cycling.

In addition, Abu Dhabi has a rich history in staging elite cycling events and claimed the prestigious UCI Bike City Label in 2021 to become the first city in the Middle East and Asia to receive this distinction for its commitment to hosting international events. The Emirate will also host the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in 2024 after successfully staging it in 2022.

As well as watching the riders compete in the prestigious UAE Tour, there will also be interactive Q&A sessions held each day while daily prizes from Wolfi’s and Colnago Caffe will also be up for grabs.

As part of its on-going efforts to encourage people to cycle, a selection of Colnago bicycles will be available for people to rent while there will be an opportunity to join the brand’s community ride on 26th February.

Colnago Abu Dhabi also includes Colnago Caffe where a specially curated UAE Tour menu with an Emirati twist will be served to mark the occasion of the event. Among the dishes and drinks that visitors can try include Shakshuka, Fattoush salad bowl, Zaatar grilled chicken, Balaleet toast, Dates latte, Iced cascara and Arabic coffee dallah.

The Fan Zone is part of Colnago’s commitment in boosting the popularity of cycling and inspiring people of all ages to take up the sport.

Nicola Rosin, CEO of Colnago, said: “The UAE Tour has established itself as one of the major events on the UCI calendar and to mark the occasion of this year’s edition, we have worked with our UAE distributor Wolfi’s to host a Fan Zone at Colnago Abu Dhabi that will not only provide an opportunity to follow each stage of the race but also understand more about cycling and the benefits it can bring.

“Cycling is booming in the UAE thanks to the Government’s support and we want to play our part in inspiring more people to take up the sport and support its growth.”
