‘The Last of Us’ sees viewership soar for OSN+ and OSN Showcase

The Last of Us

The critically acclaimed HBO series, ‘The Last of Us’, has delivered an impressive viewership in the Middle East since its premiere on OSN+ and OSN Showcase last month. Breaking regional and global records, the series has also been renewed for a second season.

The series is spouted as the latest global hit since ‘House of the Dragon’ with viewership climbing to new heights around the world. OSN+ has seen a 15% increase in viewership since the launch of the series, with strong week-on-week growth and high engagement. The series has also continued a strong performance across regional markets, including the popular gaming communities in KSA and Egypt.

With the execution of an ongoing regional 360 marketing campaign, the launch of the series has exceeded all expectations to become OSN+’s largest premiere second only to ‘House of the Dragon’ and contributing to the streaming platform’s climb to the top three of regional app stores in the past three weeks.

The Last of Us

‘The Last of Us’ is also a hit on social media, with the series trending #1 worldwide on Twitter during its series debut. To date, season one teasers and trailers have amassed more than 100 million views globally.

With a 97% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, ‘The Last of Us’ has been declared “HBO’s next big hit” by Rolling Stone, with Variety noting, “one sees the near future in which the show winds up among television’s best.”

New episodes of the 9-part series debut every Monday on OSN+ and OSN Showcase, the same time as the US.

‘The Last of Us’ takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
