Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation Announces The Winner Of Its 2022 Totalenergies Sustainability Design Award

Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) has announced Maitha Alhammadi as the winner of the 2022 TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award, which recognises young Emiratis in the fields of sustainable design and architecture.

Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) has announced Maitha Alhammadi as the winner of the 2022 TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award, which recognises young Emiratis in the fields of sustainable design and architecture.

Her project “Agro-Industrial Tourism” imagines a sustainable destination between Etihad Rail and the UAE’s agricultural setting that merges agriculture, tourism, soil and aquifer treatment, utilising waste from the UAE’s dates industry such as seeds and spoiled dates.

H.E. Huda Ibrahim Alkhamis, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, said: “We are pleased to commemorate ten years of partnership with TotalEnergies as part of our mission to reward excellence and empower Emirati youth by developing their skills and enhancing their creative abilities. This year’s award reflects the designation of the year 2023 as the Year of Sustainability, and seeks to encourage young people to find innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges. Maitha Al Hammadi’s unique work ‘Agro-Industrial Tourism’ is a testament to the potential held by young people to contribute to our nation’s efforts to create a better future. We congratulate Maitha and hope the award will inspire a new generation to think critically about sustainability and its significance for the security, stability, and progress of our world.” 

An award ceremony will be held on March 1, 2023, at Emirates Palace in the presence of Her Excellency Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, along with representatives of TotalEnergies and several senior officials and culture partners, during which Maitha Alhammadi will be awarded for her work, “Agro-Industrial Tourism” along with AED 10,000 prize.

The TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award recognises outstanding innovation and achievement by young Emiratis in the fields of sustainable design and architecture, seeking to nurture potential and creative talent by providing a launch pad for emerging designers and architects across the UAE.

The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation focuses on supporting culture and arts achievements and sustaining cultural development, by embracing creativity and launching a wide array of initiatives and societal programs to attract various audiences, in addition to cultivating creative talents in the UAE and abroad in cooperation with major local and international cultural institutions.
